Wahab Riaz appointed as the head of the national selection committee

Former fast bowler Wahab Riaz has been appointed as the Chief Selector of the National Men’s Selection Committee.

His first assignment will be to select the Pakistan team for the 3-Test series in Australia from December 14 to January 7 and the five-match T20I series in New Zealand from January 12 to 21.

Wahab Riaz started his international career in 2008 and took a total of 237 wickets and scored 1200 runs in 27 Tests, 91 ODIs and 36 T20I matches.

Wahab Riaz played 3 World Cups and was Pakistan’s second most successful bowler with 35 wickets in these competitions.

Wahab Riaz says that it is an honor for him to become the head of the national selection committee, he thanks Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf.

He further said that Zaka Ashraf trusted him for this responsibility, the decision to involve former cricketers in cricket affairs is commendable and he is keen to work for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.

The former fast bowler also said that it is a challenge, the tour of Australia is of utmost importance, where Pakistan have to play Test matches of the ICC World Test Championship.

He said that similarly, the tour of New Zealand will help us to form a balanced team for the T20 World Cup to be held in America and West Indies in June next year.

Wahab Riaz said that we have a good team director in the form of Mohammad Hafeez and we will work together for the success of Pakistan cricket.

He said that his main focus is to announce the all-round squads giving importance to the players who have shown good performance in domestic cricket, he is always available to know the opinion of the players.
