Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews presented video evidence calling the umpire’s ‘time-out’ decision wrong in the match against Bangladesh.
On social networking website X (formerly Twitter), the Sri Lankan player took his case to the people’s court by giving video evidence.
He has released a short video of 52 seconds on the social media site in which Angelo Mathews came on the pitch at his scheduled time i.e. 1 minute 50 seconds after the wicket of Sri Lanka’s No. 5 batsman Samara Viriya Wickrama fell. He seemed to be handling the call.
However, the next moment his helmet strap breaks, on which he bids time and asks his teammate to bring the helmet.
Sharing the said video, the Sri Lankan player wrote in the caption that I leave my case to you, you watch and decide.
It should be remembered that history was made twice yesterday in the ongoing International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2023 in India, the first Sri Lankan player Angelo Mathews became the first player to be timed out in the history of cricket, while in the World Cup Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka for the first time.
