It has been decided to close the Lahore Zoo for three months due to the upgradation project. The zoo will be completely closed from November 7 to January 31, 2024.
On the instructions of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Syed Mohsin Naqvi, the project of upgrading Lahore Zoo and Safari Zoo was started. Due to construction work, Lahore Zoo has been announced to be closed from 7th November till the end of January.
Meanwhile, the animals of Lahore Zoo will be shifted to Wildlife Park Jalu and Chamanga. The work of transferring zoo animals and birds will start in the next few days.
According to the zoo administration, the shifting committee has submitted recommendations on which animals will be shifted where, after the approval of the recommendations, the work of transferring the animals will begin.
About 5 billion rupees will be spent on the upgradation of Lahore Zoo and Safari Park. There are also plans to bring new animals to the zoo, including pandas, while for the first time in Pakistan, rare species of animals can be seen through virtual reality in a zoo.
