Recommending action against officers who take bribes from factories in Lahore

Corrupt officers and officials have no place in our department, Director General Environment

Lahore: Factories burning plastic waste, tires and rubber in the provincial capital have caused smog, Environment Department and district administration officers are collecting money from the factories, the Special Branch has written a letter to the Commissioner Lahore for action against the officers.

The report of the Special Branch has revealed that 62 polluting factories in the provincial capital Lahore are the cause of smog, in these factories plastic waste, tires, rubber, leather, old clothes and other environment-friendly items are used as fuel.

Officers of Environment Department and District Administration receive monthly bribes from polluting factories, Special Branch Special Report No. 3052 in letter No. 25429/SB/LR/PSO to Commissioner Lahore states that the officers of Environment Department and District Administration directly are involved in encouraging pollution.

The report revealed that in these 62 factories in the provincial capital, plastic waste, rubber, tires, leather, old clothes, shoes and other harmful fuels are used. The officers and staff of the Department of Environment receive bribes of Rs. 30,000 to 60,000 per factory per month. take

The use of plastic waste, rubber, tires, old clothes, shoes as fuel in these factories is increasing the pollution rate in the city with alarming increase in smog.

Departmental action should be taken against these corrupt officers by conducting an impartial inquiry against the involved officers of the Environment Department and the District Administration.

In this regard, Director General Environment Punjab Zaheer Abbas Malik while talking to “Express” said that there is no place for corrupt officers and officials in our department, there is a zero tolerance policy against units that spread environmental pollution, to be sent by the Special Branch. The response to the report has been sent to the concerned authorities.
