According to sources, Hanif Khan refused to go due to differences with the federation, while coach Shakeel Abbasi has also not gone to Malaysia with the team.

Why did Hanif Khan refuse to go with the team?
Hanif Khan has said that President PHF Khalid Sajjad Khokhar asked to see the team selection and team management, I made the team along with the selection committee and made the management myself.
He said that the selection committee said 20 players while I said 18 players go, I was told that the PHF president has given the approval.
Hanif Khan says that when the team was announced, it had 21 players instead of 20, a goalkeeper was added to the team, it has happened that 3 goalkeepers go with the team.
He said that the names of 2 players were changed due to the issue of passports, neither the head coach nor the chief selector was informed about the change of names.
Hanif Khan said that who is running all these matters and in whose hands are the things, because of these matters I forbade him to go with the team, foreign coaches will also come there, they will do their planning. Who will I fight?
He added that the team is not going because of the bad atmosphere and team spirit.
