Caretaker Health Minister Sindh Dr. Saad Khalid took notice of the sale of antibiotics without prescription.
The spokesperson of the health department says that the chief drug inspector has been directed to check the medical stores and pharmacies and stop the sale of antibiotics, narcotics controlled drugs without prescription.
He directed Regional Drug Inspector Karachi and Provincial Drug Inspectors to issue guidelines and said that advertisements should be issued in Urdu, Sindhi and English against the sale of antibiotic medicines without prescription.
He said that the sale of antibiotic medicines without prescription should be strictly prohibited.
Dr. Saad Khalid ordered that taking action under Section 41, the drug sale license will be revoked, suspended or the pharmacy will be sealed.
They also say that due to the overuse of antibiotics in Pakistan, antimicrobials are increasing, most of the antibiotics available in the market are ineffective against the growth of bacteria and fungi.
