Lahore High Court Janika decision to explain Governor's order of election in Punjab

The Election Commission delegation met with the governor, discussed the elections in Punjab

Lahore: Punjab Governor Balighur Rahman has decided to file an application regarding the Lahore High Court’s order to hold elections in the province, in which the interpretation and explanation of the decision will be requested.

On the order of Lahore High Court, regarding the date of elections in Punjab, the Election Commission delegation met Governor Punjab Balighur Rahman at Governor House Punjab.

Chief Secretary and IG Punjab were also present on this occasion. Chief Secretary and IG Punjab gave a briefing on the administrative and law and order situation in the province.

In the meeting, it was decided to approach the Lahore High Court for interpretation and explanation of the decision.

The Punjab governor will file a petition in the Lahore High Court and challenge the legal scope of the single bench verdict.

The Governor will request the Lahore High Court to interpret the decision and ask how the decision regarding the election date applies to the Governor of Punjab.

It should be noted that the Lahore High Court has ordered the Election Commission to announce the date of the election in Punjab and issue the notification after consulting the Governor.
