Sri Lankan cricketer Danishka Guna Thilaka acquitted of rape charges.
According to Australian media, the rape case against Danishka Guna Thilaka was heard in Sydney court.
The court acquitted the cricketer in the remaining charge of the rape case.
According to media reports, Sri Lankan cricketer Danishka Guna Thilaka was found not guilty in the rape case, the complainant could not present concrete evidence regarding the rape case.
Australian media say that the case has not been proven to be a ceremony without consent, the cricketer has been declared truthful in the police interview by the court.
The complainant knowingly gave false testimony for which he was induced, the environment during the complainant’s residence was calm and pleasant.
It should be noted that Danish player Guna Thilaka was arrested by the Australian police on November 6, 2022 on the charge of rape. He was a part of Sri Lanka’s T20 World Cup squad, but he was not allowed to go back with the team.
Daneska Guna Thilaka had 4 different charges in the rape case, 3 of which were already dropped while the cricketer has now been acquitted of even a single charge.
Australian media say the case could not be proven to involve coercion and non-consensual intercourse and lying during the process.
