Lahore: In Punjab, many people suffering from conjunctivitis lost their sight due to fake injections.

Dozens of patients lost their sight due to faulty injection by the private company. Conjunctivitis-affected patients of Kasur and Lahore were injected, Punjab government ordered an inquiry.

Caretaker Health Minister Dr. Nadeem Jan said that the conjunctivitis outbreak is being investigated and the eye injections have been withdrawn from the market while a case has been registered against the suppliers of fake injections.

The health minister said that eye medicine is not allowed to be sold in the market, a committee has been formed on conjunctivitis which will report in 3 days. A report on medicine and supply chain has been sought, investigation is on for non-supply of essential medicines, action will be taken.

Dr. Nadeem Jan said that the names of 20 affected people have come to Punjab Health Department, they have sent a sample of the fake injection to the health department’s lab for testing, the test report is not available immediately, it takes 2 to 3 days.

On the other hand, a case was registered at the Faisal Town Lahore Police Station on the request of the Drug Regularity Laboratory. According to the text of the case, the injection used in conjunctivitis was manufactured in Faisal Town and the injection was prepared in a private hospital lab. Police registered a case against lab owner Naveed Abdullah and employee Bilal Rasheed.

According to the FIR, the supply of injections was done by Bilal Rasheed in Kasur, the case involves Drug Act 1976/23/27 and 2012/30, the accused had manufactured and stocked unlicensed drugs, the accused had unregistered drugs. and sold injections in violation of the Drape Act 2012.

Dr. Jamal Nasir says that Drap has stopped the batch of injections immediately, the cruel people were earning one lakh rupees on each injection, they are conducting raids to arrest Naveed and Hafiz Bilal by registering a case. The incident happened not only in Lahore and Kasur but also in Multan and Sadiqabad.
