New Zealand Cricket has released an update regarding the recently injured fast bowler Tim Southee.
Tim Southee fractured his thumb in the last ODI against England on Saturday.
In this regard, New Zealand Cricket says that Tim Southee will undergo surgery on his thumb on Thursday, his participation in the World Cup will be decided next week after the surgery report.
New Zealand cricket team head coach Gary Stead said that it is hoped that the surgery will be successful and he will recover soon, with pins or screws in Tim Southee’s right thumb.
He said that it is to be seen how much pain Tim Southee endures on his return.
It should be noted that New Zealand’s first match in the World Cup is against England on October 5.
New Zealand’s warm-up matches are scheduled against Pakistan (September 29) and South Africa (October 2).
