Pakistan volleyball team has left for Hangzhou from Islamabad to show good performance in Asian Games. The players and officials are hopeful for a good performance in the event.
The volleyball event in the Asian Games will continue from September 19 to 26. In the first stage, the Pakistan team will compete against Mongolia on September 19 and Chinese Taipei on September 20 in Group D.
Pakistan will qualify for the round of 12 if they finish in the first two teams in the group.
To prepare for the event, the Pakistan Volleyball team held a long camp at the Pakistan Sports Board Complex in Islamabad, in which the players have tried hard to improve their game.
In pre-departure talks, the players and officials of the national team expressed their determination to do well in the event.
The head coach of the team, Esanai Remarez, said that they trained hard for three months in Pakistan, they are ready for the event, the experience was good in the Asian Championship before the Asian Games, they are now more ready for the Asian Games. He said that he is hopeful that the Pakistan team will return home with good results in the Asian Games.
Former captain and current team manager Naseer Ahmed said that the boys have worked hard in the last two months, the players are very excited and hopeful that the Pakistan volleyball team will perform well in the Asian Games.
Mubashir Raza, the captain of Pakistan volleyball team, said that a volleyball camp was held in Islamabad for the Asian Games, in which the head coach has conducted extensive training in modern volleyball. The boys have worked hard in the camp, hopefully they will bring good results for the country.
Murad Jahan, the vice captain of the team, said that the team has worked hard under the supervision of foreign coaches during the last two to three months, the morale is high enough before the departure to China that they will give a good result.
National team player Zaheer Jatt said that the team has prepared well for the Asian Games, the competition in the event will be tough but Pakistani players will give the best results.
The last time Pakistan won a medal in Asian Games volleyball was 60 years ago when the national team finished third and bagged the bronze medal, but since then Pakistan has never been able to finish better than seventh.
In the recent Asian Volleyball Championship held in Iran, Pakistan’s number was also seventh.
However, the head coach and players of the national team are hopeful that the Pakistan volleyball team will bring a better position than before this time.
