In the AFC U-23 Asian Qualifiers, Pakistan were defeated by Bahrain 3-1. Although Pakistan lost the match, Alamgir Ghazi’s long-range goal won the hearts of Pakistani fans.
Bahrain took the lead in the 25th minute against Pakistan in the Group D match at the Al Muharraq Stadium in Bahrain when Syed Jawad Haider scored from a free kick. Pakistan goalkeeper Salman completely failed to judge it.
At the start of the second half, Jawad scored another goal to double Bahrain’s lead and Hussain Abdul Kareem scored Bahrain’s third goal in the next minute. Thus, thanks to two consecutive goals in the 48th and 49th minutes, Bahrain got a three-zero lead.
In the 71st minute, Pakistan’s Alamgir Ghazi found Bahrain’s goalkeeper Abdullah Ali Ahmed offside and kicked towards goal from his own half to score Pakistan’s only but spectacular goal. Although Pakistan lost the match by 3-1, but this goal of Alamgir was highly appreciated by the Pakistani fans.
Pakistan will play the last match in the event against Palestine on Tuesday.
