Middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel has been included in the Pakistan squad for the Asia Cup.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) says that Saud Shakeel has been included in the 17-member squad in place of Tayeb Tahir. Tayeb Tahir will remain with the Asia Cup squad as a traveling reserve.
According to sources, the factors considered while selecting Saud Shakeel include his ability to play spin well, recent performances in Sri Lankan conditions and his being a left-hander.
Sources said that the management believes that Saud Shakeel fits the norms of modern day cricket.
It should be noted that Saud Shakeel was previously only included in the team for the series against Afghanistan.
According to PCB, Pakistan cricket squad will reach Multan tomorrow from Colombo.
Players participating in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) have been allowed to travel to Lahore first.
Babar Azam, Naseem Shah and Imamul Haq will go to Lahore tomorrow and they will reach Multan on Monday.
Meanwhile, the team management says that the Pakistan cricket team will hold its first training session in Multan on August 29.
It should be noted that the opening match of the Asia Cup will be held between Pakistan and Nepal on August 30.
