AIDS and hepatitis have been revealed in the prisons of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the document revealed in this regard, 196 prisoners in prisons are suffering from infectious diseases while 138 prisoners are suffering from Hepatitis C.

According to the document, 29 prisoners are suffering from Hepatitis B, 25 from AIDS and 4 from TB.

According to the document, maximum 47 sick prisoners are in Peshawar Central Jail.

The document revealed that the prisons of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have a capacity of 13 thousand 76 prisoners, while the current number is 14 thousand 321.

According to the document, only 2 thousand 897 of the prisoners in the jails are convicted while 11 thousand 424 prisoners are awaiting verdicts.

Superintendent Central Jail Peshawar Maqsood Khan says that the hospital of Central Jail Peshawar has a capacity of 124 patients.

Maqsood Khan while talking to Geo News said that there are 8 doctors including 2 female doctors to treat the sick prisoners, medicines are also being given to the prisoners suffering from various diseases.

He said that specialist doctors also come to the prison whenever needed, there is also a psychiatrist in the prison to treat the psychological diseases of the prisoners.
