Pakistan cricket team opener Imamul Haq revealed in a recent interview why his parents did not come to watch his match at the stadium till date.
Participating as a guest in a podcast on video streaming platform YouTube, the national team player discussed various issues and also revealed that like every player, he also wishes that his parents also come to the stadium. Watch their match but they don’t bring their parents to the ground themselves.
During the conversation in the podcast, he said that ‘in the early days of my career from 2017 to 2020, whenever I went out to eat with my family, many young boys and girls would come and call me ‘slipper”.
He further said that ‘I feel very sad when someone says this because of this fear, my parents have not come to see any of my matches in the cricket ground till date, while they are very heartbroken’.
Imam-ul-Haq said that ‘give a good performance as much as you want, but whenever you are standing on the boundary for fielding or going out to the pavilion while batting, people are going to shout ‘slip’ and I don’t want that when Meri Ami Cricket Stadium If I come, they should listen to these slogans, I am used to it.
He said that his sister, brother and brother-in-law came to the stadium only recently to watch one or two matches and that too when I became a senior, but still did not take the chance to bring the parents to the ground.
He said that because of this he was under a lot of stress and had to fight with it for the first three years. To hear all this but not to my family, that’s why I stopped going out with my family.
