Mindfulness, more effective than medication in stress and anxiety, research

Mindfulness can be more effective than medication for stress and anxiety, a recent US study has revealed.

American psychologist Dr. Professor Elizabeth Hogg experimented on two groups of patients suffering from mental stress and pressure. One group was given a mindfulness practice while the other was given a drug called Lexapro, which is known around the world to reduce depression.

The mindfulness group continued the process for 8 weeks, with volunteers spending 45 minutes per day. After which the experts examined his mental and psychological condition for the next 24 hours.

Experts used the Clinical Global Impression of Severity Scale (CGIS), a global measurement system for this assessment, which is rated from 1 to 7, with 7 indicating severe anxiety and stress.

For the mindfulness group, an average decrease of 1.43 was observed in the CGIS, but interestingly, the same benefit was observed in the medication group.

On the other hand, in the group receiving medication to reduce depression, the medication did not benefit all participants equally, the medication had different effects on different patients, while the mindfulness practice benefited all the participants in the group equally.

Psychiatrist Dr. Professor Elizabeth Hogg came to the conclusion from this observation that if the health department, psychologists and hospital administrations cooperate with each other, if they pay regular attention to the process of mindfulness, it can be an effective treatment for depression and stress. There will be no harmful effects on health.
