Restaurants across the country will now list calories in front of menu items

People concerned about their health and weight gain will now be able to enjoy delicious fast food as per their choice.

The government of Pakistan has decided to write the calorie count on the menu cards of restaurants across the country.

According to this campaign launched in the name of ‘Maffooz Diyota, Thamsani Sada’, now all the restaurants in Pakistan will also be obliged to write the calorie count of the food next to the names and pictures of the food listed in their menu cards.

Salman Sufi, head of Prime Minister’s Strategic Reforms, has shared this good news through social networking website Twitter.

Salman Sufi has to write in his tweet that he is happy to announce a historic initiative to improve the health of the citizens.

He further wrote in his tweet that restaurants across the country will now display the calorie count of every menu item, ensuring that citizens know what and how much they are eating.

Salman Sufi has also shared the names of the restaurants that write the calorie count on the menu card.

The list includes the names of restaurants that have implemented this decision.

He further said in his tweet that this campaign launched by the government of Pakistan will provide health related information and awareness to the citizens.

In another tweet, Salman Sufi wrote that the food authorities of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the government of Balochistan have made great progress on this initiative, working with restaurants to prepare nutritional information with laboratories.

Salman Sufi wrote at the end of his tweet that “Know what you eat, this initiative will change your view of what you consume in excess of food.”
