The financial and distribution model of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been approved, the new model includes the PCB in the top four countries.

The ICC Board and Committee meetings were held on the sidelines of the annual conference in Durban from 10 to 13 July.

The delegation of Pakistan Cricket Board also participated in these meetings in which the following issues were discussed among other issues.

  • Equal prize money for men’s and women’s teams in ICC events
  • ICC Financial and Distribution Model 2024-27
  • Amendment of ICC Rules and Regulations
  • Changes in over-rate rules and regulations in Test cricket

The ICC’s financial and distribution model is seen as a huge investment in global cricket and will provide tremendous opportunities for growth and promotion of the game.

Under this model, the basic factors that will be taken into account for distribution among ICC member countries are the teams’ on-field and off-field performance, world ranking, performance in ICC events and ICC events. Commercial contributions are noteworthy.

As per its constitutional right, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been continuously demanding additional information about this financial model at ICC meetings over the past several weeks so that the allocation of funds to member countries under this model can be distributed. can help in better understanding of the method and its formula.

The Pakistan Cricket Board felt that in the absence of all relevant information, data and formula, such a big decision should not be taken in haste.

The PCB therefore suggested that the matter be postponed until the next meeting of the ICC, but the majority of the member countries did not consider it appropriate to postpone the matter and voted in favor of the approval of this financial model. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board has registered its disagreement under the principled position.

It is also notable here that Pakistan Cricket Team’s performance in ICC events and bilateral series, Pakistan Cricket Board’s extraordinary fan base, commercial value and Pakistan Cricket Board’s ranking among the top four countries in this model. PCB will get double revenue this time as compared to last financial cycle.

The Pakistan Cricket Board says that the increase in revenue means it will be able to invest more in the development of Pakistan’s cricket, which will help take Pakistan’s cricket to greater heights, of course for Pakistan and its fans. This is good news.

Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf also held useful meetings with various cricket board officials during the ICC meeting in which bilateral relations and cricket promotion were discussed.

In a meeting held on July 15 between Pakistan Cricket Board and Asian Cricket Council officials, discussions were held to finalize the Asia Cup schedule, administrative matters and marketing matters.

The Asia Cup schedule will be announced this week, the event will start from Pakistan.

PCB, which is the host of this event, welcomes cricket fans from all over the world who will surely enjoy the traditional hospitality of Pakistan.
