According to the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO), the actual number of unreported cases may be even higher, as many fear social stigma and lack of trust in law enforcement. Such cases are not reported to the police.
Looking at specific types of crime, during these four months, an astonishing 5551 women were abducted in Punjab, which means that an average of 2 women were abducted every hour.

Executive Director SSDO Syed Kausar Abbas said that we believe that the Punjab Police is doing a remarkable job in registering cases of violence against women and children and that is why there has been an increase in the number of reports.
According to Syed Kausar Abbas, it is also commendable that a comprehensive database of such cases is being maintained. The purpose of publishing these data is to draw public attention to the high prevalence of violence against women and children.
More than 12,000 cases were reported during the first four months of this year alone. It paints a very alarming picture of women’s protection in Pakistan’s largest province.
We hope this data can provide a reference for policy makers and other stakeholders to direct their efforts towards a targeted approach to prevent this problem,” Syed Kausar Abbas said.
