Ukraine has said it will not use US-supplied cluster bombs on Russian soil.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Raznikov has explained his strategy and basic principles regarding the use of US cluster munitions.
They say that Ukraine will not use cluster bombs on Russian soil, but only in areas that are the internationally recognized part of Ukraine that are occupied by the Russians.
The Minister of Defense said that instead of risking the lives of civilians in the occupied areas, cluster bombs will be used in the nearby areas of the Russian army to break the enemy’s defense lines and save human lives, including our soldiers.
The United States has announced the delivery of cluster bombs to Ukraine in a new military package, the Biden administration approved the delivery of cluster bombs.
US President Joe Biden says that it was a difficult decision to supply cluster bombs to Ukraine for the first time, US National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan said that the US took this step after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
He said that Ukraine is facing a shortage of ammunition, that the $800 million military package would give Ukraine a psychological advantage, and that the cluster bombs given to Ukraine would not be used against any other country.
