Thousands of immigrants arrested in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh: More than 9 thousand foreigners have been arrested for violating various laws in Saudi Arabia.

According to Urdu News, the Ministry of Interior says that in the last one week, 9,305 foreigners have been detained from different areas of the country for violating the Iqama and border laws.

The official news agency SPA said with reference to the Ministry of Interior that from June 29 to July 5, 5 thousand 168 illegal immigrants have been arrested for violating the Iqama Law, 2 thousand 864 for violating the Border Peace Law and 1 thousand 273 for violating the Labor Law.

699 people who tried to infiltrate into the country were also detained. 31 percent of them are Yemeni, 68 percent Ethiopian and one percent belong to other countries.
Apart from this, 53 such persons have also been arrested who were trying to leave the country by crossing the border.

11 people involved in efforts to provide travel, accommodation, employment and asylum to violators of the Iqama, Employment and Border Peace Act have also been detained.

The statement said that legal action is being taken against 33 thousand 339 illegal immigrants. 27 thousand 600 of them are male and 5 thousand 739 are female.

Two thousand 616 people did not have travel documents. They were given an opportunity to approach embassies to obtain documents while the travel process of 25,497 people is being completed. 5 thousand 739 have been expelled from the state.

It should be noted that providing travel, residence or employment facilities to illegal immigrants in Saudi Arabia is a crime and carries various severe penalties.

The Ministry of Interior says, ‘Anyone who facilitates the entry of illegal immigrants into Saudi Arabia, will be punished with 15 years of imprisonment and a fine of 1 million riyals.

In case of providing various facilities to those who entered the country illegally, the vehicle and the house used for residence will also be confiscated.
