The 137-member Pakistani squad participated in the opening ceremony of the 16th Special Olympic World Games in Berlin wearing cultural attire.
The Pakistani team was given a warm welcome on arrival at the Olympia Stadium.
Pakistani athlete Sana of Mirpurkhas was among the 8 torchbearers of the opening ceremony.
Pakistani Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Faisal represented Pakistan in the opening ceremony while German President Frank Walters and Chancellor Olaf Schulz also attended the ceremony.
7 thousand athletes from 190 countries are participating in the international sports event, 26 different sports competitions will be organized in the event and this event will continue from June 17 to 25.
Pakistan’s 137-member delegation includes 54 male and 33 female players who will participate in 11 sports.
Pakistani athletes will showcase their talents in athletics, badminton, basketball, boche, cycling, footsal, hockey, powerlifting, swimming, tennis and table tennis.
