NATO defense ministers failed to approve defense strategy against Russian attack

A scene from the NATO Defense Ministers meeting

The defense ministers of the NATO countries could not agree on a defense strategy against the Russian attack.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the ministers reviewed the plans. This is the first time since the Cold War that a large-scale defense strategy is being planned.

NATO did not need a major defense plan for decades because it fought short wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

But because of the bloodiest war since World War II, NATO has decided that it must have a comprehensive war strategy in place.

NATO will guide its allies to upgrade forces and logistics.

A decision regarding this strategy was to be taken in the ongoing two-day meeting in Brussels, which could not take place.

According to a foreign news agency, a diplomat said that Turkey refused to approve the strategy, objecting to the words used for geographical locations.

The diplomat said that another NATO summit will be held in mid-July where a strategic solution is likely to be reached.

Turkey’s diplomatic mission in NATO said that it would be wrong to comment on the secret NATO document.

The diplomatic mission said that the process of consultation between the allied countries is going on as per the usual steps.

It should be noted that these documents related to the defense strategy against Russia and other projects contain thousands of pages.
