The squad of Pakistan cricket team for the Test series against Sri Lanka has been announced.
The Pakistani squad includes Babar Azam (captain), Muhammad Rizwan (vice-captain and wicketkeeper), Amir Jamal, Abdullah Shafiq, Abrar Ahmed, Hasan Ali, Imamul Haq.
Mohammad Harira, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Nouman Ali, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfraz Ahmed (wicket keeper), Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Afridi and Shan Masood have also been included in the squad for the tour of Sri Lanka.
This series of 2 Test matches against Sri Lanka will actually be the first series of the Pakistan team in the third ICC World Test Championship.
The support staff of the Pakistan team will be Rehan-ul-Haq (Manager), Grant Bradburn (Head Coach), Andrew Piotke (Batting Coach), Morne Morkel (Bowling Coach), Aftab Khan (Fielding Coach), Abdul Rehman (Assistant Coach).

Chief selector Haroon Rasheed says that he congratulates all the selected players especially Muhammad Harira and Amir Jamal who have managed to make it to the team due to their excellent performance.
He says that the team has been selected considering the conditions and challenges of Sri Lanka, this is our first series in the third ICC Test Championship and this squad is fully capable of giving us a good start.
Haroon Rashid says that the conditions in Sri Lanka are favorable for finger spinners, we have seen this in the past and in the last tour of the Pakistan team, that’s why we have kept 3 such spinners in the team. Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed is also included.
Haroon Rasheed says that fast bowlers also have their importance so 4 fast bowlers have been selected in the team so that the captain and team management have adequate resources in the tour, the batting line is also strong.
Haroon Rasheed said that the players who could not be selected for this tour should not be disappointed as they will also be part of our plan.
The Pakistan cricket team will assemble in Karachi on July 3 where its camp will continue until departure on July 9. The tour schedule will be released by the Sri Lankan Cricket Board.
The last Test series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was played in July 2022 which was tied 1-1.
