Bangladesh victory assured, Afghanistan need 617 more runs to win

Afghanistan’s defeat in the only Test against Bangladesh is all but certain, needing 617 more runs to win the match with 8 wickets still remaining.

At the end of the third day of the Test match played at the Sher Bangla Stadium, Mirpur, Afghanistan scored 45 runs for 2 wickets in the second innings.

Afghanistan’s Rehmat Shah and Nasir Jamal are at the crease with 10 runs and 5 runs, Ibrahim Zadran 0 and Abdul Malik 5 runs are among those out, while captain Heshmatullah Shahidi retired after scoring 13 runs.

Earlier, Bangladesh declared their second innings 425 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Bangladesh scored 382 runs in the first innings while the Afghan team returned to the pavilion for just 146 runs.

Thus, Bangladesh has given a target of 661 runs to the Afghanistan team to win. In response, the visiting team has scored 45 runs while it needs 617 more runs.
