New Delhi: Police have registered a case against Indian Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Singh for allegedly sexually harassing women wrestlers.
According to the police, a case has been registered against Brij Bhushan Singh under the provisions of sexual harassment.
It should be noted that the president of the Indian Wrestling Federation, Brij Bhushan, is also a member of the assembly belonging to the Sindh ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
Women wrestlers had been protesting against Brij Bhushan Singh for several weeks. Later in April, wrestlers staged a sit-in in New Delhi to demand the arrest of Brij Bhushan Singh, who was also tortured and lathi-charged by the state police.
Brij Bhushan Singh was accused of sexual harassment by world medalist wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, among other female wrestlers.
A statement issued by the New Delhi Police said that after investigation, a case has been registered against Bhushan Singh.
Brij Bhushan Singh is a member of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly and has been the president of the Wrestling Federation for over a decade. He denied the allegations leveled by the women wrestlers and termed it as a conspiracy to throw them out of Parliament.
