Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has approved Pakistan’s hybrid model for Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi has thanked the Asian Cricket Council for approving the hybrid model. The Asia Cup will be played from August 31 to September 17.
This is the first time that Pakistan will host the Asia Cup after 2008. Fifteen years ago, Pakistan successfully organized the Asia Cup in the 50-over format.
Najam Sethi says that he is happy that our proposed hybrid model has been approved for Asia Cup 2023. This means that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will continue to host the Asia Cup and will hold the matches in Pakistan, after which Sri Lanka will be the neutral venue for the event. The reason for this is that the Indian cricket team is not coming to Pakistan.
Najam Sethi said that our passionate fans would have been happy to see the Indian cricket team playing in Pakistan for the first time after 15 years, but we have an idea of the BCCI’s position.
He said that like the Pakistan Cricket Board, BCCI also needs the permission and clearance of its government to cross the border. In this background, the hybrid model was the best solution, which is why he was strongly advocating it.
Najam Sethi said that the approval of the hybrid model means that the Asia Cup will be played as per its scheduled schedule and the Asian Cricket Council will continue to play its role for the promotion of cricket and will continue to move forward as the next 20 The month is very important in terms of the interest and enthusiasm of cricket fans in the subcontinent.
Najam Sethi said that during the last 15 months, the Pakistan Cricket Board has successfully organized bilateral series and two HBL PSLs of exceptional importance. The top cricketers of the world participated in these events and enjoyed the excellent arrangements and hosting in Pakistan.
Najam Sethi expressed confidence that the teams participating in the Asia Cup and then the Champions Trophy in February-March 2025 will also get to see our best hosting and arrangements.
Najam Sethi said that he will discuss with the Asian Cricket Council and Sri Lanka Cricket to sort out the logistical and operational issues so that preparations and planning for the event can start properly.
He assured the Asian Cricket Council, commercial partners of participating teams and fans in Pakistan that the Pakistan Cricket Board will leave no stone unturned in hosting the Asia Cup to make this event a success which is very important for these teams.
