More than 250 government hospitals in Balochistan have been revealed to exist only in papers.

According to the World Health Organization report on health facilities in Balochistan, the province has 1661 hospitals, primary health centers, rural health centers and other medical centers in the official documents.

According to the report, the existence of 257 medical institutions is limited to the extent of files, besides 656 medical centers are partially functional.

According to public representatives within the province, 50% of primary health centers in Balochistan are closed.

Examining the facilities in 1661 basic health units and hospitals of the province, 87 percent of the buildings are in ruins due to lack of construction and repair, in 43 percent, the medical equipment has partially failed.

In 887 medical centers and hospitals of Balochistan, there is no facility to clean medical equipment on medical basis.

The provincial health minister himself admits that the number of non-functional hospitals in the province is high, in which medicines and facilities are not available.

Despite the allocation of 40 to 50 billion rupees every year for the health department in the budget of Balochistan, the poor condition of the department should be enough to open the eyes of the rulers.

The government’s priorities regarding the health sector can also be estimated from the fact that more than a dozen health secretaries have changed in the last 5 years, but the performance of the department could not be improved.
