Dr. Shehzad Baig, the head of anti-polio program, has said that the polio virus has been confirmed in the environmental samples of Karachi.
He said that polio virus has been found in the environmental samples of Karachi’s Gadap Union Council (UC) 4 this year.
According to Dr. Shahzad Baig, the environmental sample was taken on May 15 from Gadap Town UC 4 Sohrab Goth. The Pakistan Polio Program was successful in limiting the polio virus to southern KP districts.
He said that one case of polio has been reported in Pakistan so far this year. Positive environmental samples were reported in Lahore, Hangu, Peshawar, DI Khan and Upper South Waziristan.
