Pakistani-origin Canadian Member of Parliament Yasir Naqvi has formally announced his participation in the election of the leadership of the Liberal Party of Ontario, Canada.
The province of Ontario is governed by the Progressive Conservative Party led by Premier Doug Ford, and the Ontario Liberal Party currently holds very few seats in the provincial parliament.
The Ontario Liberal Party’s leadership election is being considered as an important one and there are various candidates in the field, including Yasir Naqvi, who will face off in November.
If the Liberal Party wins more seats in the next provincial election, the party leader will be the premier of the province.
Yasir Naqvi is considered among the strong candidates. He has held the posts of provincial minister and attorney general in Ontario.
