At Hambantota, the home team’s top order batted brilliantly, with openers Nissanka 43 and Karuna Ratne scoring 52 runs.
Kaushal Mendes played a brilliant innings of 78 runs, then Samara Wickrama also scored 44 runs. Other players took the score to 323 for 6 in 50 overs.
In reply, Afghanistan’s batting line-up falters at the start, Rahmanullah gets out for 2 runs. Ibrahim Zadran played an innings of 54 runs. Rahmat Shah scored 36 runs and captain Heshmatullah scored 57 runs.
After that, no batsman could play confidently and the entire Afghan team was dismissed for 191 runs.
Sri Lanka won the match by 132 runs and leveled the series at one. The third and deciding match will be played on Wednesday.
