Turkey’s Defense Ministry has announced that it will send one of its commando battalions to deal with unrest in northern Kosovo.
According to foreign news agency, NATO’s Joint Force Command requested Turkey to send troops.
The Turkish commando battalion will join NATO’s Kosovo Force (KFOR) in the region as a reserve unit.
A Turkish Defense Ministry official said 500 troops would go to Kosovo.
NATO announced on Tuesday that it would send 700 new reinforcements to forces in the region.
There are currently 3,800 military personnel in the Kosovo Force, of which 350 are from Turkey.
It should be noted that 30 soldiers were injured in an armed clash with Serb fighters on Monday.
