At least 50 people were killed and more than 300 injured as a result of a horrific collision between a passenger train and a freight train in the Indian state of Orissa.
According to Indian media reports, the authorities have expressed fear of an increase in the number of deaths.
The Coromandel Express was traveling from Calcutta to Chennai when it collided with the bogies of another train.
Four coaches of the passenger train overturned after the collision, the injured were shifted to Balasore Medical College.
The Orissa state government has started arranging generators and lights for the rescue operation.
Rescue authorities have also started rescue operations, in which more than 50 personnel are participating.
According to preliminary investigation, both the trains were on the same track which caused the accident.
