An open source tool for measuring air pollution

Air pollution has become a dire global problem. That’s why Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) experts have created an open-source and low-cost device that can be installed in a car. The experts have named it “Flat Burn”. This device is so cheap. That people all over the world will be able to use it. All its components are manufactured by 3D printing which has reduced the cost. Conventional sensors are very expensive and heavy whereas Flatburn is a great invention.

Its inventors are Carlo Retti and his colleagues at MIT’s Sensible Lab. The team has started testing it in several major cities around the world. In the next phase, it will be made part of the province in the ‘City Scanner’, so that the intensity of air pollution in cities and other details can be ascertained. Experts say that they were working on it for the last five years and now the first sample has come out.
