Dublin: Medical experts say that young people should use a medicine to reduce their weight, which after research has been proved to be very effective in reducing obesity.
In a study conducted by scientists, weight loss was revealed with the use of the drug. Speaking at the European Congress on Obesity held in Dublin, the researchers said that the weight-reducing injection semiglutide can reduce weight. I can help young people.
In new clinical trials, obese teenagers were given doses of a semiglutide-type drug for more than a year.
The study, published in the journal Obesity, found that 45 percent of teens who used an appetite suppressant drug were out of the obesity zone 68 weeks after starting treatment.
These individuals were compared to a group given a ‘placebo’ (i.e. dummy drug) for the same period of time.
About 19.5 percent of people moved out of the overweight category, while 25.4 percent of people reduced their BMI to normal weight, the conference said.
Using semiglutide led to an average weight loss of 18 kg, researchers said, making the drug an effective treatment option for obese adolescents.
Dr. Aaron Kelly of the University of Minnesota said it should be taken as part of a combination of measures to help young people fight obesity.
He said that the sooner the treatment is started in this case the better to avoid further weight gain.
