Pakistan women cricketers will be seen in action in the Pakistan Cup

The best female cricketers of Pakistan will be seen in action in the Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament, which will be played from May 19 in Karachi.

According to the announcement made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the purpose of this tournament is to provide the best limited overs cricket opportunities to the players. Especially, this event will help the players in their preparation for the Emerging Women’s Asia Cup, which will be held in Hong Kong next month.

Pakistan Cup will consist of 13 matches which will be played in two phases, four teams will play T20 matches based on round robin league while three teams will compete in ODI matches. These matches will be played under double round robin league which will end on June 4.

The first leg of the tournament will see potential players of the ACC Women’s Emerging Asia Cup take to the field, giving them an opportunity to showcase their talent and showcase their skills according to the situation.

The strikers team participating in the tournament will be led by Fatima Sana, Blasters captain Muniba Ali Hongi who is also the only Pakistani player to score a century in T20 Internationals.

Challengers team will be led by left arm spinner Sadia Iqbal while Dynamites team will be captained by Sidra Amin.

Six T20 matches between these four teams will be played from May 19 to 21 at Hanif Muhammad High Performance Center Oval Ground and State Bank Ground.

From May 23, Blasters, Challengers and Dynamites teams will compete in the fifty-over ODI tournament.

The final of this tournament will be played at State Bank Ground which will be shown live on PCB’s YouTube channel.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has also announced the cash prizes for the tournament. The winning team will be given Rs 10 lakh and the runner-up will be given Rs 5 lakh.

A prize of Rs 20,000 has been kept for Player of the Match and Rs 50,000 for Player of the Tournament.

Pakistan Cricket Board Women’s Cricket Head Tania Malik said that the main objective of this tournament is to provide an opportunity to our talented women cricketers to show their skills.

He further said that that is why this tournament has been kept in two phases so that these players can get experience from different challenges of two different formats.

According to Tania Malik, the T20 format will help our emerging team to prepare for the ACC Women’s Emerging T20 tournament.

He said that in the second phase, three teams will compete in ODIs and he hopes that the tournament will witness high-quality matches.
