Bangladesh and Sri Lanka Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given the green signal for the new hybrid model, both countries have no objection to play the first round in Pakistan.
Sources say that the cricket boards of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have assured PCB through email, BCCI and PCB have not yet had any direct contact.
An internal meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is expected in Dubai in the next couple of days.
According to sources, ACC chief Jay Shah will also attend the meeting, where PCB’s newly proposed hybrid model will be discussed.
The final meeting will be called after the internal meeting of the Asian Cricket Council, the final meeting may be called in the last week of this month.
Sources say that PCB wants to hold the Asia Cup in UAE due to gate money, ticket sales in UAE can bring more financial benefit than Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
After approval of hybrid model PCB can also show flexibility on neutral venue, approval of hybrid model to PCB but rejection of UAE as neutral venue may be acceptable.
PCB will have a cheaper neutral venue in UAE than Sri Lanka in terms of logistics, another option is to use Sri Lanka’s Dambulla and Palikele stadiums as neutral venues.
