Section 144 was imposed in Lahore for a week

Lahore: In Punjab, Deputy Commissioners were given powers to enforce Section 144, after which DC Lahore imposed Section 144 in the city.

According to Express News, the Home Department has authorized the Deputy Commissioners to enforce Section 144 after seven years, after which Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider has enforced Section 144 in the city for a week.

During the implementation of Section 144, activities like assembly, dharna, rally, procession and protest will be banned.

Section 144 has been enacted under the Code of Criminal Procedure Ordinance (Amendment) 2023.

Earlier, since 2016, these powers were with DCOs.
