2 French citizens jailed for espionage left Iran after being released from prison.
According to foreign media, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran has declared the release of Bernard Phelan and Benjamin Breri on the charge of alleged espionage as a humanitarian measure.
According to reports, the French President has also confirmed the release of the two citizens.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of France has said that the two citizens have started their journey to return to the country.
According to foreign media, 37-year-old Breri has been in jail since May 2020, while 64-year-old Phelan was sentenced to 6 and a half years in prison in April.
