According to Iranian media, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian has said that Saudi Arabia has appointed its ambassador to Iran, while Iran will soon announce the name of its new Saudi ambassador.
Meanwhile, a high-level Iranian delegation led by Iran’s Finance Minister Ehsan Khandozi arrived in Jeddah, who will likely discuss the restoration of the Iranian embassy in Saudi Arabia and the appointment of a new ambassador.

The Iranian delegation’s engagements in Saudi Arabia include meetings with government officials as well as participation in meetings of the Islamic Development Bank.
China played a mediating role to restore diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia. The first meeting between the parties in this regard was held in China on March 10, while the foreign ministers’ meeting was held on April 6.
Apart from this, the foreign ministers of the two countries had telephone contact more than three times.
It should be noted that in 2016, when Saudi Arabia executed a Shia cleric, protesters in Iran attacked the Saudi embassy, after which relations between the two countries were severed.
