Argentina’s star footballer Lionel Messi has agreed to a contract with Saudi Arabia’s football club after saying goodbye to the French club.
According to the British newspaper Daily Express, Messi is currently playing for the French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
PSG recently suspended Lionel Messi for 2 weeks for vacationing in Saudi Arabia.
Messi was also fined by the club for acting as a tourism ambassador in Saudi Arabia.
It should be noted that Messi signed a 2-year contract with PSG in 2021, which will expire this year.
The suspension by the club was expected to indicate that Lionel Messi would not renew his contract and would prefer to play for another club.
Meanwhile, reports surfaced that Saudi football club Al-Hilal have offered Messi one of the highest-paid contracts in history.
The Saudi club offered Messi a £262 million (over Rs 93 billion) annual contract, one of the most expensive contracts in football history.
British media say that Messi has agreed to accept the Saudi club’s offer and an official announcement is expected soon.
It should be noted that Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a contract to play for Saudi club Al-Nasr until 2025.
