Pakistan cricket team vice-captain Shadab Khan has said that it is a pity to lose the number one ODI ranking, ranking is not important for the World Cup.
Giving an exclusive interview to Geo News, Shadab Khan said that the series against New Zealand was a good opportunity to prepare for the World Cup.
He said that these two weaknesses have to be removed before the World Cup, there is room for improvement in fielding as well, due to playing more T20s, the energy level sometimes decreases during fielding in ODI matches, in the middle overs. His job is to take wickets, which he has not had much success with.
Shadab Khan says that the in-out in the team makes a difference in the performance, new players were given a chance under the rotation policy in the series, in the World Cup all the teams enter the field, then they are at zero, for the preparation of the World Cup. So there are not many matches.
The vice-captain said that I am going to play county cricket because of one-day matches, there will be four-day cricket in the county but the game will improve.
He says that despite getting fewer matches, he will try to prepare himself for the World Cup. He played good cricket in the last ODI against New Zealand.
It should be noted that in the last ODI match yesterday, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 47 runs. The national team won 1-4 in the five-match series but could not retain the first position in ODIs.
