The All-Pakistan HEC Inter-University Championship in Karachi has concluded. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission distributed trophies to the winning teams, the students who participated in the event complained of mismanagement.

For the first time, the Inter-University Games held in Karachi concluded, players from 25 universities participated in 8 games of the event.

On the one hand, while interesting and sensational competitions continued, mismanagement in the event was also on the rise.

The players were very disturbed by the busy schedule of the matches, the tired players kept trying to sleep at the venue of the game while many matches continued till one or two o’clock in the night.

The players were happy with the accommodation but there was no kitchen facility and no special arrangements for cooking. Players had to go far for food and drink. Due to the distance between the venues of the game, the players faced difficulty in reaching the venue on time.

The ceiling of the volleyball court at the local university was so low that the ball repeatedly hit the ceiling, causing teams to lose points.

There was no provision of first aid for the injured players and the barring of Karachi University archery players from the game also caused damage to the structure of the Games.

In this regard, when Director HEC Javed Ali Memon was asked, he said that funds have been given to all the universities involved in the event, while daily allowance has also been given to the players.

He said that this time the games are being held at three or four venues, there is no university in Karachi that has complete infrastructure for all sports.

He said that there were many difficulties to get the results, that’s why different venues were chosen.

Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed was the chief guest of the closing ceremony who distributed the prizes.

On this occasion, he said that the promotion of sports in educational institutions further strengthens the positive thinking of students.

University of Punjab was successful in men’s archery in the combined result of eight sports.

Karachi University won in Women’s, Punjab University in Men’s Netball, Lahore College for Women University in Women’s Football and Women’s Hockey won the final and became the All Pakistan Champion.
