New Zealand white ball cricket team captain Kane Williamson is likely to be ruled out of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 due to injury.
Kane Williamson was injured while fielding while playing for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, after which he left the league and went back home.
He underwent a full check-up on his return home and according to New Zealand Cricket, Kane Williamson will undergo an operation on his right knee.
According to New Zealand Cricket, his rehabilitation after the operation will take so long that it is unlikely that Kane Williamson will be fully fit before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. .
Kane Williamson has said that he is grateful for everyone’s support during his injury so far.
“It’s disappointing to have an injury like this but now my focus is to get the surgery and start my rehab,” the Kiwi captain said.
“It will take some time but I will try hard to get back on the field,” he said.
“Unlikely to return until the World Cup, all my support will be with the coach and the players,” Kane Williamson said.
