Eating late at night isn't bad for health, research says

London: One dietary advice we are often given is to avoid eating late at night if you want to avoid serious health problems and weight gain.

But a new study has found that there’s nothing wrong with eating a little late at night if you’re going to have a little late breakfast the next day.

Tim Spector, professor of genetic epidemiology at King’s College London, studied 80,000 people in the UK. In the study, they examined different meal times and the times at which people eat.

Preliminary results of the study (full results which will not be published until later this year) found that some people could eat as late as 9.30pm while avoiding health and weight problems.

The main way to avoid problems with a late dinner is to have a late breakfast the next day (11:30 am or later) to allow better metabolism and a 14-hour fasting period. can be done

The study found that this period of fasting was largely effective for people, regardless of how late they ate.

According to Professor Tim Spector, the benefits of eating an early dinner are based on very few studies in young people, which did not include fasting periods.

These studies found very modest benefits of eating dinner early, so Professor Timm believes these benefits have been overstated.

The study found that people who ate late at night but fasted for 14 hours each day reported more energy.
