Lahore: In the case of ban on broadcasting the statements of Chairman PTI Imran Khan, the court took notice of Chairman PEMRA and sought his reply.
In the High Court, a hearing was held on the contempt of court petition against PEMRA for not airing Imran Khan’s statements on TV channels, in which Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza told the petitioner’s lawyer that you have to prove with documents that the court’s The order has been violated.
Chairman PEMRA has been made a party in the contempt of court petition filed by Barrister Ahmed Pansuta on behalf of Imran Khan. It has been argued in the petition that the Lahore High Court has suspended the notification of PEMRA’s ban, yet non-broadcasting on TV channels is a violation of fundamental rights.
It has been said in the petition that PEMRA is pressurizing the TV channels not to broadcast Imran Khan’s speeches. PEMRA is violating the court order. It has been requested from the court to summon the Chairman Pemra in his personal capacity and Lahore High Court to take contempt of court proceedings against the Chairman Pemra.
The court issued a notice to Chairman Pemra and sought his reply.
