Young players likely to be dropped

Consultations are underway for the white-ball series during the New Zealand cricket team’s tour of Pakistan, with the prospect of dropping young players from the Afghanistan series.

Sources say that the National Selection Committee headed by Haroon Rasheed has started considering the names of the players.

At least 3 seniors are likely to return to the T20 squad while all the seniors may return in the ODI series.

All-rounder Imad Wasim is likely to retain his place in the series against New Zealand. Fast bowler Ehsanullah is also likely to be included in the ODI squad.

Wicket keeper batsman Azam Khan, young batsman Tayyab Tahir and fast bowler Muhammad Wasim Jr are likely to be dropped for the Afghanistan series.

For the series against New Zealand, either Abdullah Shafiq or Saeem Ayub will be able to retain their place.

It should be noted that the T20 series between Pakistan and New Zealand will start from April 14 in Lahore.
