Karachi: The accused who was caught red-handed while looting in Madina Colony located in Baldia Town area of Shahr Quaid turned out to be a municipal candidate of a political party.
Police officials claimed that the arrested alleged dacoit Abdul Nabi contested on the ticket of a political party in the recent local government elections, the arrested alleged dacoit contested the councilor seat from UC6 ward number four and got 305 votes.
The police claimed that the accused had been committing street crimes even before the elections, which he admitted during interrogation. The accused admitted that he stole a motorcycle and robbed a medicine company van in and around Ittihad Town.
The police said that the accused was still committing the crime this evening when the citizens caught him and subjected him to severe torture. The accused was detained by the police in an injured condition.
