Russia has become the largest investor in Iran, Iran’s finance minister said in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times.
He said that this fiscal year, Russia has invested 2.76 billion dollars in Iran.
According to the Ministry of Economic and Financial Affairs of Iran, the volume of foreign direct investment in the country this fiscal year has reached 4.2 billion dollars, and two-thirds of it is from Russia.
The finance minister said that discussions are ongoing with Russia on financing of industry and transport projects including the mining sector.
In January this year, representatives of the central banks of Russia and Iran signed an agreement to facilitate financial and banking operations.
The Iranian finance minister said that talks were also held with China and Turkey to make banking operations simple, but currently our financial network with Russia is better than any other country.
