Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan telephoned his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdullahian and congratulated him on the arrival of Ramadan, while the two leaders also agreed to meet soon.
According to Saudi media, Foreign Minister Faisal Bin Farhan called the Iranian Foreign Minister. In the conversation, the two leaders exchanged Ramadan greetings and agreed to an immediate meeting.
The two leaders agreed that a plan to reopen the long-closed embassies and consulates will be set up to restore diplomatic ties that have been severed for 7 years.
It should be remembered that on March 10, an agreement was reached on the restoration of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran in the talks mediated by China, in which the parties agreed to open the embassies.
Based on the deal, Iran and Saudi Arabia are expected to reopen their embassies and missions within two months and implement 20-year-old security and economic cooperation agreements.
In addition, the Iranian official has claimed that President Ibrahim Raisi has received an invitation for a visit from Saudi Crown Prince Salman, but Saudi Arabia has not yet confirmed this.
It should be noted that there is a strong disagreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran on nuclear activities, but the issues between the two countries seem to be resolved through the mediation of China.
